The Role of CLT in Promoting Learner Autonomy in English Language Classrooms: A Case Study on Bangladeshi Tertiary Education

Exploratory in nature, this study aims to discover how CLT is interconnected with learner autonomy and whether it effectively propagates tertiary-level ELT classrooms of Bangladesh. A mixed-method approach followed conduct research. Two separate sets questionnaires have been developed distributed among the tertiary teachers students collect quantitative data. Additionally, qualitative data extracted from semi-structured interviews students. The major findings current conclude four essential themes: collaborative learning, teachers’ role classrooms, autonomous learners, freedom learning CLT. Moreover, detailed analysis these themes evaluates Bangladeshi students’ stance on affirms that quite sufficiently promoting classes. At last, concludes a set recommendations for so they can be more efficient replicating methods language ensure everlasting display autonomy.
